Falkner is one to rush into battle without a stratagy and rely on pure speed and strength to win. He rarely uses any great stratagies, his fighting styles normally depend on his Pokémons' strengths rather than the opponent's weaknesses. He isn't very strong physically, either.
Personality:
Falkner is a man who's easy to get along with, but he's far from easy going. He likes to run because he's fast and thinks that battling is fun. He's a bit overtrusting, thinking that when someone says something its instantly true. This would be a weakness, but he does have SOME judgement in him. Since he doesn't have a family, he doesn't know how to act like a father figure, but he tries to be somewhat of a brother to the friends that he makes.

Falkner was born a bastard child and his mother died as a result of child birth. He was meant to be killed, but the gym leader of Violet City had taken him in as a son. When Falkner was 4 the gym leader had to leave to watch over his father's house (back in Kanto), so Falkner was left with a baby sitter. His father had died on the trip when his Pokémon was attacked by Team Rocket, leaving Falkner to have countless baby sitter and tutor after baby sitter and tutor. He had never listened to the tutors; nevertheless, they continued to try and teach him.
When Falkner was 12, he began the Pokémon challenge. It took him a while, but at the age of 14 he had achieved all of the kanto and johto badges and became the leader of the Violet City gym. It was then that he began his love of flying and nature, he observed nature to its fullest in between matches and sometimes cancelled a match to simply bird watch. He became a very hard gym leader to face, as the trainer sometimes had to find him in the wild before they could battle him. He said it was his way of testing the trainer's "connection with nature", but that was just an excuse to cover up the fact that he was caught.
At the age of 15 a trainer had caught Falkner's eye. He thought of the trainer as a sister to him, though the trainer thought of him as much more. The trainer's name was Wyn...well...he didn't know her real name, but he called her Wyn. Falkner had a huge crush on Whitney, so he kind of ignored Wyn and saw her as nothing more than just a friend or sister. Still, she was very skilled in Pokémon battling and that is what got Falkner's attention. She was the first trainer to beat him in a gym battle, and at the time he thought she would be the last.
